{About the Owner + Designer + Creator..}
Kim Cicchella is a mother to 3 amazing kids, wife, Interior Designer and a clothing, home decor & gift creator. She's in her element creating timeless designs full of personality.  She graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design in 1995.  Working as a commercial Interior Designer she specialized in corporate, healthcare, educational and industrial design and also has residential clients too. She passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications exam in 2003, (NCIDQ No. 019200).

{Short story..}
Keeping it simple, everybody has a thing and sewing is her "thing".  Believing you should love the life you live and live the life you love..designing is her passion.  Working with clients through these outlets makes her feel grateful to have found joy in her daily work and by helping others along the way.

{Backstory, how the magic happened..}
As a young girl, Kim's favorite pass time was art and design. She would created wall art and rearrange her bedroom every few months as well as furniture throughout her family's home. Her talented mother, Mary Ellen Graver, was Kim's sewing inspiration.  Growing up, she watched her mother sew..she made it look very cool and sooooo easy.  So as an independent 6 years old, Kim decided to use her mom's sewing machine to sew a hole closed in her sock. Not knowing to hold the starter threads tight at the beginning, as she pressed the peddle the threads got tangled and jammed inside the machine. She pulled and tugged the threads out of the machine (to fix it of course) and she broke the machine..😝 ($60 repair cost back in 1979..ouch). After "the talk" and getting the machine back from the repair shop, her mom teach her how to use it properly.  One small mistake lead her to a whole new world. 

{Meaning behind the company name..}
Being a Pisces, she was drawn to the aquatic reference of FLOAT. The uplifting winged heart, is a symbol of love and life..through the good times and trying times, as long a you stay afloat..you are doing just fine.  Evolve from yesterday, dream for tomorrow.."Live RightNow". Work hard, stay humble. As life evolves, her business and product line will float along with her!  

{Quality..}
All items are hand cut and sewn by Kim with care (and a pinch of love) in her smoke-free studio.  FLOAT is also an environmentally friendly company.  Cardboard cereal boxes are recycles to create original appliqué templates & product tags. She also upcycles clothing for unique patterned and textured appliqués, transforming them into new modern designs. All materials are pre-washed to prevent shrinkage and distortion of appliqués on clothing.  Kim provides her clients with impeccable customer service and attention to design details. Custom designs are one of her specialties. She would love to work together with you (creating a team approach) to develop your best possible design outcome.
